In 1973, on a family vacation in the Rocky Mountains, Helen Huitt discovered Señor Gordon’s Chili Mix Seasoning at the General Store in the Historic Gold Mining town of Tin Cup, Colorado. She fell in love with the flavor and uniqueness of the Seasoning and, always an entrepreneur, she contacted and persuaded Cottrell to sell and she bought the company! Helen, her husband J, son Glen and the entire Huitt family blended and packaged Señor Gordon’s by hand in small batches for years as Coloradans came to love the flavor of this local craft seasoning.
After 43 years of producing Señor Gordon’s with love, the Huitt Family entrusted Chip Raches to carry on the rich legacy that the Cottrell and Huitt Families created. Now, still very much a family business, Chip and his team of food specialists produce Señor Gordon’s Chili Mix Seasoning with the same great flavor using the secret recipe first created in 1948.
